Founded in 1991 by our current Director, J. Christine Dean, MD, and the late J. Kiffin Penry, MD, the institute’s approach to epilepsy is unique. The Epilepsy Institute of North Carolina (EIofNC) utilizes interdisciplinary efforts with a team of professionals providing optimum services to more the 10,000 patients from all parts of the United States and other countries. We provide service to all ages, including children and senior adults. Services provided to our patients include diagnosis, treatment, long-term care, education, and pharmacy assistance programs. Medical and psychological services are now available. Specialized services include investigational drug research, vagus nerve stimulator therapy, neuro-psychological testing and services, EEG services, and social services consultations.
The vision of the Epilepsy Institute of North Carolina (EIofNC) is that children and adults challenged with epilepsy and other neurological disorders have unlimited access to the diagnoses, treatment and on-going support necessary to live their lives as freely as possible from their medical challenges.
